EU report shows UK 'one of the worst in Europe' for domestic violence

A new  report from the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) has surveyed violence against women. Sadly, it suggests that the United Kingdom is one of the worst offenders in the EU.

Dr. Farrall, Director of Ignition, commented: "This underlines why we need effective early interventions for intimate partner violence and abuse, because gender inclusive research suggests most relationship violence and abuse is not at this high end - as much as 60% of abuse is low level and bi-directional.

If we can tackle that chronic problem we may be able to prevent more serious physical victimisation later."

The report is available in our Resource section here.
