Ignition to work with 'Help for Heroes'

It was confirmed today that Help for Heroes wishes to fully fund a new programme co-developed by Ignition, in partnership with the Australian agency CATT.

Help for Heroes are the UK's leading charity in providing physical rehabilitation for combat veterans, and are now developing a psychological support programme, under the 'Hidden Wounds' initiative.

The re:group programme is an intensive intervention for veterans and their partners, and aims to provide support for veterans recovering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and as a preventative measure for veterans experiencing a degree of stress, mental health or other related difficulty.

The project is still being negotiated, but the intention is to run two pilot programmes in 2015, at the Tedworth House recovery centre in Wiltshire, followed by a wider roll-out depending on evaluation results.

Dr Mark Farrall commented "I am absolutely delighted to be able to work with both Julie Lacey, my Australian psychodramatist colleague, and with Help for Heroes. Julie is a highly skilled and experienced therapsit with veterans and I look forward to learning from work with her. Especially thrilling is that we are able to contribute to Help for Heroes developing their new psychological support services, which are so vital".
