Ignition supports evidence-based domestic violence work in Shropshire

Dr Mark Farrall presented research on effective domestic violence and abuse practice to the inter-agency steering group looking to establish intervention work in Shropshire.

Dr Farrall was asked to speak particularly about the Ignition two-part Engagement and Treatment programme for child protection settings, which is improving outcomes for children on Child Protection Plans in Bracknell Forest Council, and as recent figures show, also saving millions of pounds in costs.

Also speaking was Mark Farrall (no relation) of Stonham Worcester, who talked about the powerful Ignition six month domestic violence group programme which Stonham has been operating under license.

Both programmes operate from a gender-inclusive research base and integrate Motivational Interviewing and the experiential 'action' techniques in which Ignition is a leader.

Joanne Berry, Domestic Abuse Coordinator said: “Ignition is extensively involved  across the UK in work with perpetrators of domestic abuse. Dr Farrall’s expertise, knowledge and understanding of working with perpetrators of domestic abuse was exceptionally useful in helping to think about how we move forward with working in partnership to provide a non-convicted perpetrator programme in Shropshire.”
