Tackling domestic violence and abuse in the housing sector

A new association promoting best practice standards for domestic violence and abuse in the housing sector is to be launched in September.

The Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) consists of housing providers Peabody Housing, Gentoo Living and Standing Together, a national chariity working to promote a co-ordinated, multi-agency community response to domestic violence.

Dr. Mark Farrall said: "Earlier this year I heard Guddy Burnett of Peabody Housing speak about the great work she is doing on awareness raising and reporting on domestic violence and abuse at Peabody and more widely.

'Clearly, the next step is to think about effective, research-based work with abusive individuals. Ignition has of course worked previously with Stonham/Homegroup, the UK's largest third sector provider of housing stock, and is in contact with a number of other housing sector providers about this issue. I hope to present to the DAHA Board on exactly this, in the near future."
